Benevidez has one thing going for him and that’s power. Other than that a fighter like Canelo will utterly embarrass and punish Benevidez. Benevidez is slow as a sloth compared to Canelo. There’s levels to this game and sorry but Benevidez isn’t at that level. His size is the only thing giving non boxers problems. Hell I’d even say BJS and Plant make it a nightmare for Benevidez. You can literally see his punches a half second before they come...whiff wind against elite boxers

Ellis showed how tough he really is, at times taking so much punishment it looked inevitable he would go down; but then, he would fire back.

His biggest mistakes were standing in front of Benavidez with a high guard, and perhaps most importantly did not go to the body nearly enough - which should have been his No.1 gameplan given Benavidez's square stance and height, yet it was Ellis who took punishing shots to the body.

Some fighters gain respect and therefore some currency with a tough loss. I suspect Ellis will continue to be a solid gatekeeper.

If he (Benavidez) faced Canelo in the next 3-4 years, he might be vulnerable to Canelo's signature looping overhand right, as he likes to leave that lead very low - reminiscent of Tommy Hearns.

Also, Canelo would likely land crunching power shots.

Besides that, I think Benavidez poses one of the greatest threats to Canelo at 168, and I suspect Canelo will move up to 175 before that happens, however, I could be wrong.

Benavidez is a fine fighter, and too these other guys Plant, Charlo, and Saunders, but I do believe Canelo is a level above. We'll see how Berlanga goes as he steps up competition, but he is the biggest puncher in the division.
