I recently saw an interview on YouTube by Ray Flores or Villegas, and they asked him
about Canelo saying he didn’t want to fight any Mexicans. David responded that he’s Mexican and Ecuadorian. I was told his Dad is Ecuadorian too. Makes sense why in so many interviews of Sr. talking about Mexican boxing he never really related to it directly.
