there not at the same level, because marquez is primarily a boxer

where cotto is known as a boxer puncher/slugger

I think Cotto's natural strength is too much for Pac. I don't see Pac being able to back Cotto up. Pac can fight off his back foot, but not as well as he is going forward. Cotto slowly breaks him down for 11th round TKO.

Cotto is definitely more aggressive than Marquez, but believing Cotto can counter-punch Manny because Marquez did is a tough argument. It's similar to believing Valero can knockout Hatton just because Pac did. Cotto maybe a decent counter-puncher, but Marquez is the master at what he does. Cotto eventually got burned out countering Margarito and he is way slower than Pacquaio. Cotto may have countered a quick Shane Mosley, but he also slowed down and lost a few late rounds. He basically beat Mosley with his jab, like Forrest and Winky did before him. He could countered Mosley all night, but his jab got him the victory that night.

You need to watch that fight again. From the last 3 rounds cotto won 2. At the end he just stop fighting because of the cut. He slow a little bit down because he knew there is no way Mosley was getting KO, and I don't remember well but I think nobody is been able to KO Mosley.
