I mean it's coming from Hearn so people will react to that - but I 100% agree.

Watched that last fight with Truax....Plant doesn't have it, going 12 with a shopworn guy while revealing he has brittle hands/shoulder ain't gonna cut it....I like the guy quite a bit but there is something missing there....there was a very obvious lack of a right hand in that fight, not sure what's going on there but it's an issue imo.
. Saunders just fought Martin Murray as a tuneup....I think aging Martin Murray would be Plant's second best win and Saunders is able to handle that easily, scores a knockdown, etc - and this is Saunders being out of the mix and doing nothing for a while. He is the type that can just show up and win in your hometown

Saunders is more WAY natural than Plant and he just doesn't give a ****, he might ruffle Canelo pre-fight like Fury did to Wlad. Plant concerned about looking cool and playing a role

Eddie Hearn is a decent promoter. But I've never heard somebody be so wrong in his predictions as him. He never predicts a fight correct , the winner, or how the fight will actually play out. He'd be lucky to have a 30% prediction rate on anything about the sport he promotes. Not good.

I'm not dis*****g Canelo's efficacy as a fighter; however, Canelo gets the job done in spite of his footwork and not because of it. Had Canelo had better footwork, Lara would not have made him look bad (not dis*****g Canelo's win - just saying that it was an example of winning ugly).

Canelo fought Lara nearly 7 years ago. I think you must admit that he has improved in every facet since then.

Canelo has reached a very high level in the sport when no matter who he fights there's always some unknown who is a tougher opponent. We saw it for the last 10 years of Mayweather's career. No matter who Canelo fights, the haters will make excuses.

It wasn't long ago there were dozens of threads saying no way would Canelo dare fight Callum Smith. Too big, too active, and has a great jab. There were also many threads in the past saying that BJS would give Canelo the toughest fight. Now Benavidez and Beterbiev are the boogie men that Canelo is supposedly avoiding, until he fights and beats them too, then some other boogieman will arise that few people even know who they are.

Benavidez is probably his toughest possible fight right now, but he'd be favored in that too. Beterbiev is an animal, but just not that skilled. It's an interesting matchup, but I suspect Canelo would beat him easily and then people would move onto the next boogieman.

GGG III is likely going to happen, but people are already making excuses in that one too. Canelo is going to go through GGG like butter the 3rd time around. Canelo is 30 years old, he's in his prime and will be for at least a few more years. He's going to be awful tough to beat right now. He's got a chance to fill out his resume which is starting to look like an all time top 10 fight card.

So I think either Plant or Saunders might give Canelo a bit more issues because of their boxing ability, but another question is, How's Saunders and Plants chins? I think we will get our answers in May and September.
I have a relatively similar view, I think Saunders is marginally tougher or more likely to cause an issue but in reality canelo I expect to beat both and probably relatively comfortable at that. Neither Saunders or plant really have a great resume it’s fair to say and both will point to their positives and ignore there less impacting fights when suggesting they will compete.

canelo is world class though and I fully expect him to beat both this year.
