Let’s look at the facts chronologically.
Yildirim had agreed to step aside for Benavidez for the title shot HAD HE FOUGHT DIRRELL instead. This was reported. Dirrell lost to Benavidez. Yildirim was supposed to be fight Benavidez next, not Benavidez vs Angulo. During the month of Benavidez vs Angulo, Yildirim tests “positive” with Rafael reporting this:
“Super middleweight contender Avni Yildirim has tested positive for two performance-enhancing drugs, likely destroying his chances of getting the mandatory shot at a 168-pound world title he was supposed to have in his next fight.“
later in the same month Yildirim is CLEARED because it was PROVEN that he was given something for recovery per his medical doctor...
Dont you find it practical, that Yildirim, a Haymon fighter, is suddenly cleared which makes him eligible because Benavidez lost his belt...
dont you see how the WBC works rather practical with its fee paying clients?
I mean Yildirim vs Benavidez should’ve happened and announced months prior to Benavidez losing his belt to Angulo.
So the theory in my opinion is that Haymon knew that it was highly probable that Benavidez was too big during the pandemic. Which would mean that if Benavidez had beaten Yildirim while also losing a belt? Those two PBC fighters get bumped off.
which means Hearn HAD the best opportunity for Smith to fight for the WBC vacant title with his Diamond status. See how it works? It’s not far fetched to believe that Sulaiman would have favoritism for Oscar...with Mauricio seeing turmoil between DAZN vs GBP vs Canelo.

meanwhile Hearn was still dragging negotiations with Smith accepting the Canelo offer for the WBA Super.
When Hearn finally got what he wanted with GBP vs Canelo fallout, he could easily take the bill/difference for Smith because GBP was out of the picture.
I don’t know why fans don’t like contextualize the order of the WBC fiasco. They simply blame Canelo for PBC circulation and bias within the WBC.
