Comments Thread For: Plant: Canelo Did What He Had To Do, Yildirim Gave Him Too Much Respect

The fight itself wasn't at all competitive, although Caleb Plant was able to get all of the information he needed about Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez's latest title defense. Guadalajara's Alvarez had his way with Istanbul's Avni Yildirim (21-3, 12KOs), scoring a one-side stoppage after three rounds Saturday evening at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Yildirim barely put up a fight, not throwing many punches and suffering a 3rd round knockdown before his corner decided to end the fight prior to the start of round four.

Plant will fight another Traux caliber fighter or not fight at all awaiting his Canelo shot.

Everyone at 160-175 seems to be happy treading water in hopes of landing a Canelo fight.

Uh no Caleb the first ever undisputed super middleweight champ was officially Joe Calzaghe. He has the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine titles back then before his jump to 175 for Bernard Hopkins.

No, he vacated the IFB after beating Bika to fight Manfredo, Undisputed is having all major titles in your possesion at one given moment.

Joe had 3 in the 4 belt era, he was not undisputed.

So Canelo will do all the work, fight another champ and collect most of the belts. While plant fights another bum and gets the opportunity to fight for all the belts. Idk how people give Alvarez so much flack and give these can crushers a pass.

Yildirim was ONLY there to guarantee Canelo a knock out. Yildirim put in 3 rounds and picked up a 2.5 million and went home. I'm actually glad Yildirim took his check and went home, it exposed the sham fight for what it was, a scam.

No matter who he fights you’ll find a way to complain.
