Boxing is unwatchable to anyone who doesn’t already love it

I’ve been a boxing fan my entire life and I can’t remember the last fight card I actually enjoyed watching.

I don’t even try to get others interested anymore. It wouldn’t help my case if I invited a friend over to watch me fall asleep during a fight card.

Everything is a showcase fight. Even PPVs! It can only get interesting if the house fighter turns out to be incredibly disappointing.

If I’m not mistaken, the last fight between two top 10 p4p fighters happened in 2018.

    Its very sad to watch.

If you want to enjoy boxing again find a local gym and go in on sparring nights. You will see young amatuers and pros leave the ring with blood, sweat, and tears. Its eye opening to see boxing at its purist form and itll at least give you an understanding why some act like divas.

As for casual fans (friends and family) I usually have them watch the lil 24/7 type promos b4 a big fight. They usually help people understand.

Wilder was pretty good for casuals actually. Until he lost, he and Mayweather were the only two guys people who don't already love boxing were interested in. Money built his own brand by the time I am of age so that was like a freebie. Wilder was simple enough; "KO'd every man he's fought" worked. Especially when the other guy didn't look as bad as they are or were actually good. Like Szpilka, casuals don't know Szpilka. They just see sizes, get into advantages, and love kos.

addition - were actually good meant to ref Ortiz but I dropped the ball.

Who are you blaming doe? You're one of those who cry lowball all the time.
It's not cheap to make even semi-big fights happen. Look at Fox.
They're probably not even making any effort to make huge fights anymore.
What they have last night is semi-retired, resurrected Dirrel in the main card.
As if him winning will result in a PPV-worthy fight with some top opponent.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of truth to what you're saying. My girlfriend sat next to me laughing at Fa and Parker hugging it out. That fight definitely didn't find any new converts to the sweet science.

I blame DAZN, Fox, Showtime and ESPN.

The networks are in bed with the promoters and fighters now. They’ll approve any fight.

Huge name fighters used to go to HBO and beg for them to approve their fights because it was the only show in town.

When that was happening, every fight was great!

I also blame hardcore boxing fans for watching anything and not giving the networks any incentive to do anything other than what they’re doing now.

Not always but last night was horrible. A garbage ppv (Canelo) and a total bu!!shyte (Direll) free tv fight. Neither gained boxing one single fan.

Yeah Boxing is Burying itself further and further especially with casual Sports fans who now have far more Entertaining Alternatives like UFC. Unless they're Fighting a Youtuber or UFC guy, we may never see Boxing do the numbers it use to do again

The amount of time between the Arroyo fight and the main event was excruciating. Then only made worse by having Canelo come out to a musical performance while Avni was already in the ring.
Have music between fights but there is no reason to drag out a fight card .

                    What exactly are you expecting?
Again, it's not cheap to make meaningful fights happen.
Garbage fights are the only fights networks can afford.
Greedy fighters, greedy promoters, managers...enabler fans...

Don't even know what fans are waiting for.
Top fighters are not fighting each other,
they're fighting their own individual fights.
                    R Garcia, Haney, Davis, Lopez...
