Dorin had retired prior to that fight after losing the love for the sport and not being able to make weight in the fighy before Gatti. They cancled the day before the fight after coming to the scales overweight and I think forcing him to lose his title

Well what you call "retire" some people call "vacation".

Dorin was overweight vs Spadafora. Lost his tittle because of it and had to pay a penalty. Directly after the disillusioned Dorin said he quit. But believe he came back to his decission within 2 weeks, after having thought about it.

And decided to fight at light welterweight from than on, which he did succesfully the fight before the gatti fight.

Well, let's try...IBf Superfeatherweight Champ defending title 3 times including Fight of the Year vs Wilson Rodriguez...Current WBC Light Welterweight Champ with destruction of previously unbeaten Dorin ( and did I mention never been floored, Dorin)..Took part in three fight war with Mickey Ward beating him twice ( really 3 times as many had him winning the first)..And in my humble little opinion would give ALL the top LW a serious run for the money and with the exception of Tsyzu and Mayweather Jr. would beat the rest! All I'm saying is he is nothing special and he still doesnt have 1 big win. Now if you want to count Dorin than go ahead, but anyone with a level head knows that was nothing special. Yeah... I love Gatti and he's been great fun to watch over the years but he's going to get beat the moment he fights a top tier opponent. Sad, but true.

It was this fight that did not happened where Dorin was overweight, and was fined afterwards for not making the weight; was desillusioned afterwards; and in this emotion called it a quit; and within two weeks after cooled down got back to training and fought weight class higher.
