The Macho Man was good to watch on TV in the 80's when he wasn't deep into drinking and drugs.

The hard party life caught up to him, as it does anybody with no self control.

I enjoyed watching him enter the ring in those outrageous costumes, boxing trunks, and hair styles.

    He could have been greater.

Watching a prime Camacho was a thing of beauty.

Funny I was gonna make a thread the other day about how nobody talks about him, he was a very good talent that largely goes unnoticed.

I've seen the comparison before but to be honest I don't think they're very similar at all in terms of style.

It seemed as if during the Rosario bout, Camacho suddenly realized he didn't like getting hit for a living and became a defensive boxer who only opened up at times, unlike his former self who would overwhelm opposition with sheer handspeed.

True. Macho was a slickster not a brawler.

The kid was charismatic and had a large fan base. Something boxing needs today.

It would be nice to see his life-story told in a feature film. The rise and fall of a Latino kid from Spanish Harlem who ran with the gangs of New York; molding his rep as a streetfighter to become a world boxing champion.

Hector was a nice funny guy, but some people labelled him as a "payaso" (clown). Still i think he would probably beat DLH in his prime.

Camacho has had a fine career, but is an underachiever. He should've done a lot more. Wins over the likes of Duran and Leonard would mean a lot more if they weren't 137 years old at the time.

He had a nice stretch at 130-135, but not the dedication or mindset to be one of the greats, despite having the physical gifts.

Oh, and El Chapo beat him regardless of what the judges said.
