What Do You Make Of Floyd's Physique Change?

Im surprised with all these Mayweather threads that weve never really talked about this. I mean we talk alot about his weight or whatever but this is still a little different. Ive never really seen a guy's body change like Floyd has, e****ally this late in his career. There is Floyd Pre-Oscar and then there is this new Floyd. I remember when he signed the Oscar fight I was worried that he may be too small to compete at 154 e****aly since Oscar just decapitated Mayorga. However, I kept saying that the great thing about the fight is that Floyd can move up in weight and that may help him physicaly when he comes back down. Like he might get up to 155 for the Oscar fight and when he comes back to WW, maybe he can stay at 155 and compete physicaly with the bigger guys. That never materialized as he only weighed 150 and entered the ring at 148 but the thing that stuck out like a sore thumb was the difference between him weighing in at 147 & 150. Those 3 pounds changed his body structure. His shoulders were huge, his chest was wider & thicker, and he was much more cut than before.

When he moved back down & fought Hatton, you could tell that he was smaller than the Oscar fight but still had that different phsyique. Then you see him at the WWE thing the other night in his tank top and he looks ripped again. Its like he's one big muscle. I dont know really want to make of it. The said thing is that unlike Pac, he's not gaining any weight with it or atleast he hasnt up til now. Maybe after the layoff he will finally gain weight. If he ever gets to 155 inside the ring then he will be hell for the WW's. The other thing I noticed though was with the added bulk & width in his chest & shoulders, it makes him look slower now. Its like a guy lifting too many weights. Even in his workouts he looks just like an overall slower cat now. I always tell people that he's going to be slower anyways at higher weights, with age, and now with rust but this still seems different. He looks more like a weight lifter throwing punches now. Maybe that adds on more power though and he can push guys around in the ring a little. Im definatly looking forward to seeing his in the ring weight and how he looks physicaly against JMM.

He wont get any credit for the win if he's 155 because cats hate him that much but in the bigger picture, he will be ready for any WW. He will still be the smallest man in the division but he'll be able to physicaly compete now. What do you guys think about his body change though or is it just me? Its not just about gaining weight either. Guys gain weight all the time but it doesnt change there body. Like Pac's body is the same but just gets bigger & built when he moves up but his body structure is the same. Floyd's body has changed, atleast his upper body has. Now he has not an ounce of fat. Even his face looks sharper now like he has no body fat at all. Hopefully, he gains weight with it and keeps all of his pure speed & quickness. He can still be most of these guys without the speed because of his overall skill & knowledge but speed always helps

His body may have matured, we might be able to finally call him a natural WW, that or we'll have to wait untill September 19th. All depending on what he weighs during the fight.

I was impressed by the way Floyd looked for the AT&T commercial. For a guy who has been a world-class athlete, it is pretty tough to maintain that during your down cycles.

The Mayweathers just have gifted genetics. Did you see how Floyd Senior looked at 57 years old? While eating tacos and fried chicken and drinking Kool-Aid? He looked better than most of you 20-something slugs on here.

he's not in his 20's anymore...just a sign of maturity thats all...he shouldn't lose much in the speed/power department...

With all due respect, what you weigh doesn't make you a "natural" at that weight.

For example, was Vinnie Pazienza a "natural SMW"? Was Oscar a "natural MW"?

I think your "natural weight" is more the weight where your physical abilities all peaked at a mature age. For Floyd, that would be prolly LW/JWW. For Winky, that would be 160. For Ishe, that would be 154.

A "natural WW" isn't 150 on fight night. That is what a JWW weighs.

For the Oscar fight, he hit the weight room more often to increase his muscle mass and as a result he appeared a bit slower.

At the lower weight he doesn't rely too heavily on weight lifting.

It helps to have a great conditioning coach.

Yeah but I say this because I heard Nate couldn't make 135, this was for his fight against Funeka. One Punch came in here talking about how many hours Nate spent in the sauna and he still couldn't make 135. So I'm thinking, the same could happen to Mayweather, maybe his body has matured, we'll have to wait and see. I've always viewed Mayweather as a natural Jr WW, it was after he moved up from that weight...where he declined but I know what your saying. I understand that WWs don't coming into the ring weighing 146-148, Jr WWs do.

Think that was more due to the gloves.
