IMO he lacked discipline outside the ring once cus d'amato passed away. His raw natural talent and strength got him by but I believe had he been focused outside of the ring (fame, partying, drugs, alchohal, and especially women which would prove to be his ultimate demise) he wouldv've owned the heavyweight division. The post jail tyson was merely a circus act that came back with fire then quickly burned out

Had Cuss lived another 10 years I think we would be talking about Tyson as top 10 ATG.

Tyson became champion a year after Cus died,Tyson obviously cared for the man but there were alot more factors in his downfall than the death of a guardian,Kevin Rooney's dismissal as trainer played a factor in his decline

Tyson's potential far outlived top ten ranking,There is an argument to be made that he is a top ten heavyweight(I rank him as such)

How can you ask such a ridiculous question, Tyson was battered from pillar to post for 10 titanic rounds by the 6ft4ins Buster Douglas, he showed heart, guts and an incredible will to win, it is difficult to think of any other fighter who could have stood-up to such an onslaught, Mike Tyson was one of the toughest fighters i ever watched in my life, Tyson could certainly give it but he could also take it, he was the epitimy of a prizefighter

great champs like ali, lewis even foreman and holyfield have shown strong mental fortitude. have stuck in there when it was tough, overcame odds, showed patience and intelligence during some moments and aggression and drive in others.

tyson imo is alot like rjj, they are good fighters when things are going their way but imo they could lose heart when the fight starts to slip away from them. theyve never shown inner strength to rescue victory from the jaws of defeat.

some might argue tyson did have heart, but he never had focus, mental fortitude or patience.

I dont agree with the Roy Jones comparison, Roy Jones has fought tough fights and been in with tough fighters. The fact that someone cant win a fight when the other fighter is having things their way doesnt equate to not having heart. Tyson has resorted to cheating & biting, he has quit many times in the ring & has come into fights unprepared and not looking to win at all, but only to collect a check. Roy Jones may have been KO'ed twice but he has always fought with heart and has never QUIT.

            Roy Jones > Mike Tyson

              tell me you;re kidding mna

tyson had a neck that was about 19inches, his legs wouldn't have looked out of place on elephant.

tyson had a great chin - he was able to withstand a battering from lewis and buster douglas. tyson was never KO'd by one shot, it always had to be because of an accumulation of shots and he had to be fatigued.

                    Tyson had a great chin.

His defense wasn't that good after Rooney and he was many times overwhelmed.

People talking about Tyson's chin have obviously never seen Holyfield-Tyson.
