  • Have You Only Seen Floyd's Last 3 Fights?

The #1 thing that upsets me that people say about Floyd is his punch output and how he wont stay in front of you at all. Seriously, its like people have only seen him fight Baldy & Oscar. The guys outweighed him by 20 pounds in the ring and Baldy was known for walking through shots. Oscar was at 154 which you could tell Floyd was very cautious of, e****ally after Oscar had just decapitated Mayorga. The fact is in 90% of his fights he hasnt fought that way. When he fights guys near his own size he always lets his hands go, is highly Offensive, loves to trade, and thows mad combos. You could argue that he didnt do it much against Hatton but if you saw that fight then you know that was more of Hatton's fought because he just tried to smother him all match. The idiot smothered Floyd so much that he even smothered his own punches and couldnt get off. Even his trainer in the corner was telling him that and Manny Steward said it over & over again. They told him he was smothering his own shots and had to move back. The problem was everytime there was room then Floyd would eat him up.

Seriously, I dont mind people saying this about Floyd or that about Floyd but this is the 1 thing that eats me up for some reason because its so not true. He lets his hands go in a ton of fights. Its just that he was fighting huge guys now and was cautious but he let his hands go alot with Zab, Mitchell, Corley, Gatti, Bruseles, N'dou, and so on. If you go back before then to 130, he stayed busy. I just dont get how people can continue to say this like it is bond. Its not. He stopped mostly all those guys I named, dropped Chop twice, and may have stopped Zab if it wasnt for the low blow. The only reason why he didnt stop Zab & Corley is because they were Southpaws. If they were righties then you know he wouldve stopped them too. Its hard to throw mad combos against Southpaws so he wasnt as full go in those fights as he was against the righties but he still was highly Offensive and all the guys he stopped, he did it very early, within like 5 or 6 rounds for all those fights. Stop acting like he doesnt let his hands go. I mean he even KO Hatton and it looked like he couldve KO Oscar if he tried more.

I just think people are so wrong when they say that. Then you hear alot of people say that JMM has to engage Floyd, Floyd will run from him, Floyd better trade or he's a punk, and so on. Im like, are you serious? This guy does fight when its guys near his size. I bet he's going to do it this fight and people will try to clown him and say that you know Floyd must have had a huge size advantage because he tried to trade. Come on now, go back and watch some of his fights, please. It trips me out because alot of it is new fans but there are also alot of hardcore guys & media who say this. How can they do that? I dont get it. Are you really trying to tell me that Floyd wasnt super aggressive at 130, against N'Dou, Bruseles, Gatti, Mitchell, Corley, and Zab? Its just size & weight. Thats why he probably didnt fight Cotto & Margairto because he knew he would have to pot shot all night. He doesnt do that with guys near his own weight

And this is why I am picking Floyd by knock out but it does depend on what Floyd shows up. I think the old Floyd will return for this fight.

Something I said earlier to another poster.
It is not in Floyd's temperament any more to finish off his opponents early. Floyd will give up the first round or two maybe. We will hear the usual from Roger "Don't worry about that ****, it will come, just keep doing what you are doing, we will get him done the line." But it would behoove Floyd to finish JMM off early and he could if he wanted to. Pacman almost had him early, Juan Diaz almost had him in the 4th. Both Floyd and JMM get better as the rounds go by. I just don't think that JMM is ready to make such a huge leap in weight. He is venturing into uncharted waters. Floyd will knock out JMM but it might not be in the 5th like I am predicting.

I know that picking Floyd to knock out JMM by the 5th is a huge long shot but I will stick with it. It could well happen in the 8th. lol

He did stop putting punches in combinations as he went threw the weights since he was fighting bigger guys.
At the lower weight he used to throw 5-6 combos like he did with Chavez,Corrales,N'dou,Gatti, etc.

But I don't think that should be a problem with Marquez.

I 100% agree with you, great post. I was looking to write something similar after i watched Hatton Mayweather this morning. Im British, i was gutted to see Hattion lose but he completely got outclassed. People seem to think it was Cortez's fault for not letting Hatton fight on the inside. From the bell, you see Hatton smack maywetaher on the back of the head 3/4 times. What else is cortez meant to do?! Hatton just doesn't take a step back, and Mayweather moves and shoots. It's boxing, if you want to see a street fight go wait outside a pub. De La Hoya wise, Mayweather just waits for De La Hoya to tire and then lands at will. Masterful, i'll be rooting for Marquez but thats just because im all about the underdog.

No sir, been following him throughout & unlike some people,I believe the Castillo fights, were his greatest performances, because he was forced to fight, when he didn't want to!!I was actually excited when I heard he was coming up in weight,I expected great things from floyd!!I understand Baldomir for the linear title,I really do,but Judah & Hatton & Sharmba at 147,nope,I didn't get those!!Even the big money fight against DLH,get that money, but when Cotto is roaming around undefeated & Margarito is at ur interviews calling u out, yeah,u need to handle that,he didn't!!

good post and i agree with you 100%

personally i think this is a testament to floyds sklls and his versatile arsenal that he can engage and be the aggressor in one fight and then go and counter and move in the next fight. his versatility has been one of the cornerstones of his success

take another example in calzaghe, calz is a fighter who can counter but he can also go toe to toe. now if he was to go and fight adamek at CW would he try and go toe to toe - would he heck.

people who criticize floyd for not going to toe to toe with DLH and baldo are the sort of fans who think that every fight should be gatti/ward.

The TS is ridiculous. Floyd has not been willing to trade since he moved up plain and simple. Maybe cause the men he fights are bigger and stronger and hes afraid of getting caught so he is smarter. I think its weak sauce. Of course we are going to judge him by his last most current fights. You dont judge someone by what they did 10 fights ago! Hello McFly

The only reason Floyd will be gunslinging in this fight is because he is fighting the LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION who moved up 2 divisions from is last fight.

You know what Im sick and tired of is people like you backing floyd and making excuses for his every move.

I am a hater but he can shut me up if he steps up to Mosley early next year then Cotto then Pac or Berto.

He has never even fought a legit WW. He beat a one dimensional Baldy ( he was only lineal cause everyone was fighting at 154) and thats it.

Come on Floyd its way past the time to allow your true talents to shine and put a stop to all the haters like me

              Prove me wrong Floyd!
