Why would they want to have Cotto-Corley 2? He had to kill himself to make weight. That tells you right there that he only has a couple of fights left in him at 140. Why would you waste time fighting Chop again? What can he gain from fighting a dangerous guy like Chop? The first fight was in PR and Cotto had a 17 pound weight advantage. This fight will be in the US and Cotto might come in at 154 and Chop at 147. What if Chop had never been softened up by Zab and Floyd. He probally wouldve beat Cotto.
People are overlooking Cotto's defense. Everyone said he has great defense but I dont see it. He got hit by so many clean shots from Chop. You can say it was because he was southpaw but look at the other fights. Pinto was outboxing him from the outside, N'Dou landed alot of clean shots on him, and people always talk about how Cotto killed the smaller Sosa but they forget to mention that Sosa was landed alot of shots and Cotto. He was firing combos and getting the best of the exchanges early on but the size was just too much for him. Cotto has a problem with speed guys, thats why he would never beat guys like Floyd or Zab.
People say that it was the same when Chop hurt Floyd but it wasnt even close. Chop stunned Floyd but he was only dazed for a second and if you guys remember right, Floyd came right back at him and won the round but Cotto was out on his feet. He didnt land 5 punches the rest of the round. He was in retreat the whole time and very wobbeley. If the ref didnt stop it, I think Chop still couldve won. The only reason he went down the second time is because Cotto hit him while he was down the first time and he wasnt all the way clear.
Cotto might be another Tito but he doesnt look anything like it right now. He looks like a guy who is getting by on his power against smaller B and less level fighters. Floyd is the only small top fighter at 140 but he is very good. The rest of the guys are just as big as Cotto. He will have a very tough time and 147 looks like too much for him right now. Maybe his handlers know this and thats why he's fighting at 140
I dont see the good in this rematch for Cotto. He is fighting a dangerous guy who he could lose to and if he wins, no one will give him any special credit for it. He should fight Harris.
