Three time world champion Erik "El Terrible Morales" (47-2, 34KOS) is sure of one thing: His fight against Manny Pacquiao (39-2-2, 30KOS)will be spectacular and will leave the fans who witness it very pleased. "Pacquiao is a warrior and I expect hard and emocionate combat that im sure will please all the fans", said Morales yesterday from his training camp at the Otomi Ceremonial Center in the Mountains of the state of Mexico.
"I am training like the old days. I only have here the people that are truely necessary and we are doing what we have to do to give a great fight and come out with our arm raised", said Morales who's won titles at 122, 126, and 130 pounds.
About his strategy for Pacquiao Morales commented: "We are going to have to control the rythm of the fight and make an intelligent fight. We know he is strong and if we have to box him we will but, we will trade leather when necessary as well."
Morales was questioned if perhaps it was too soon to be fighting someone like pacquiao after his recent defeat against Barrera just a few months ago. "Believe me if i wanted to i could have fought a month later. I had a bad night, things didnt go the way i planned and i hope the people comprehend that. I dont know what happened to me but i doubt it will happen again.", said Morales
Because of his loss in November the Tijuanan recognizes the importance of this fight against Pacquiao. "We are working with a lot of enthusiasm, concentration, and focus for this fight, because we know this fight is very important for my career. They've are all important but there is no doubt that this one is much more." Affirmed Morales.
Despite that he knows that he must re-vindicate himself before his fans, Morales knows alot of them still support him. "The fans know im going to put on a show at all times, thats why people come see me fight and this time wont be the exception. I will give all my heart and demonstrate that that I still got plenty left", said the Mexican ex champion.
In a recent survey of over 100 boxing publications based in the United States and Puerto Rico, Erik Morales was named the favorite to win the fight by 54 of them. 51 of them chose the Filipino and a draw between the 2 warriors.
