    Ducking fighters

I'm sure this has been brought up before but, I think we the fans are responsible for fighters ducking other fighters.. they all do it at one point or another.. I don't think it has anything to do with them being scared or not wanting to get beat up.. These guys are real warriors who aren't scared to get beat up.. What they're scared of is losing big paydays.. We as fans are too quick to write off a fighter once he gets beat up.. Take Cotto for example, I think it was Pullcounter who made a great point that if he had cherry picked instead of fighting Margarito he could've have fought DLH for more money and less danger than the Pacquiao fight.. After his loss alot off ppl wrote him off and said he's damaged goods.. Boxing has to be the most unforgiving sport of all and it's no wonder these guys duck dangerous fights. We beg for the best to fight the best but the loser usaully gets dismissed like he never existed. Your thoughts?

If Cotto beat Margarito, his stock would've risen way the hell up there, and he'd be fighting Oscar, but plaster gets in the way of things.

Riiiiight, and I bet Roy Jones is a hero for taking on Trinidad. I mean Christ, ducking Tito to take on B-Hop, man don't you guys hate it when big guys cherry pick people from lower weight classes? DISGUSTING!

Ducking is the perhaps most overused term ever.

          Exactly, what is it?

Not fighting someone who verbally challenges you? Well, lots of people verbally challenge the big names. The real "call-out" is in negotiations. It's unfortunate that so many boxing fans get erections when someone mentions someone in a post-fight interview, as if it really means much other than some hype.

Not fighting a top guy in your division? What if both guys wanted more money and the split was reasonable in the eyes of many netural observers? Who exactly is at fault?

What if you have a belt and a certain fighter is a mandatory, but most fans would prefer you to fight someone else? Did you duck the mandatory? In that case, Duran "ducked" McCallum, but I'm sure more fans wanted Duran to face Hagler and Hearns than to fight McCallum. And of course, there's the fact that Duran made, oh, like 10 times as much fighting Hagler as he would've fighting the Bodysnatcher.
