        Mike Tyson love him or hate him made a pretty big impact in the sport. Man was a monster. Othe than ali no one has gained more popularity with the general public as him.

          You know I hear that a lot and I don't agree. Dempsey was immensely popular, and the results of his fights made the front page headlines of just about every newspaper in the country. When he went to Europe people went crazy over him. The same went for John. L. Sullivan, and Jack Johnson.

          Later, Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano would be among the most beloved athletes of their eras.

          It's just that Ali and Tyson are the more recent greats so everyone still remembers how popular they were.
