It purpose is pure entertainment for fans, as far as purpose for Cotto....well there really is none as he should be able to blast out any LW him being a top level WW with power. As for Manny, he could look good by beating a bigger guy again though many will say Cotto was compromised if he gets KTFO.......not to mention the revered and sought after vacant WBC Diamond belt will have a new owner.

How is Cotto vs Pacquiao pointless?

Ina sense for the sport, what is this going to determine? If Cotto wins, thats not going to make him the best p4p. If Pacquiao wins, thats not going to make them the best WW out there. This fight is more beneficial to the individuals partaking in it than the actual sport itself from a substantial point of view which we are discussing.

but im not complaining about it. its gonna be great for the sport marketing wise and a great fight to watch. I'd feel the same way if it was Mosley/Pac too. I dont believe that ONLY fighting and beating the best fighter in a certain division automatically makes you king of that division. There is work that has to be put in but whatever. Thats just me.
