The Fight Night Club card this Thursday at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles is almost complete.
Abner Mares, the unbeaten bantamweight contender from Montebello, Calif., faces Carlos Fulgencio of the Dominican Republic in the eight-round main event. If he wins, Mares (18-0, 11 knockouts) is expected to fight on the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Juan Manuel Marquez undercard on Sept. 19.
In the co-main event, David Rodela of Oxnard, Calif., a winner on the first FNC card, fights Gamalier Rodriguez (8-1-2, 4 KOs) of Puerto Rico in a six-round lightweight bout. Rodela (13-1-2, 6 KOs) is unbeaten in his last 12 fights.
Also, Carlos Molina, who stopped Ever Luis Perez last month, faces Antony Nelson (7-10-1, 7 KOs) of Kansas City, Mo. Molina (8-0, 4 KOs) is from Commerce, Calif.
Ricky Lopez (5-0, 2 KOs) of Oxnard takes on John Wampash of Miami, Fla., in a four-round featherweight bout. Lopez, who will have fought on all three FNC cards, is an all-action fighter. Wampash (1-1-1, 1 KO) lost a unanimous decision to 2008 U.S. Olympian Gary Russell Jr. in his last fight.
Sergio Espinoza (16-5-1, 5 KOs) of San Diego fights David Gaspar (10-2-1, 7 KOs) of Los Angeles in a 4- or 6-round flyweight bout. Espinoza, an accomplished amateur, is coming off a victory but has lost three of his last five fights.
And former U.S. amateur standout Juan Heraldez of Las Vegas, making his pro debut, will fight Luis Tapia (1-2) of Compton in a four-round junior welterweight bout.
One more fight has yet to be made. -

lmao @ That goin through all our heads
Nah but Mares, is a solid fighter, we know that. But a lot of things about Ortiz we never knew. I mean Ortiz's trainer said he was a 80% to 90% brawler and that they were trying to turn him into a boxer puncher. And that comment was made on ESPN just days before the Arnaoutis fight. And it showed in the Maidana fight, Ortiz really is just a brawler, not a very good one at that.
Ortiz is limited, when someone like Mares has options in the ring. Mares can **** and box. Plus he's got schooling from everyone, from Mayweather Sr to Ignacio. Now he has Joel Diaz in his corner, which is crazy. lol So I think it's safe to say Mares won't get Ortiz'd.Comment
