happy b day marquez. unfortunately your signature win over juan diaz doesn't look so great anymore. Diaz looked horrible against malignaggi.

                    Writing Off What History Teaches

The assertion that Marquez does not have 'a snowball's chance in hell ' of defeating the over bearing Floyd Mayweather brings to mind the declaration, 'Oh Ye Of Little Faith.' Floyd promotes himself like an old school O.G in a Brooks Brothers Suit. His claim to have invented the HBO series 24/7, his flinging of $100 bills at the camera, his claim to a throne he abandoned two years ago and his disrespect toward genuine legends in Marquez and Manny is as boring as his ring style. Juan Manuel has seen all there is to witness in a prize ring. He has engaged the finest with a gusto and humility that can bring a tear to the eye of any seasoned boxing fan. After the dramatic and tragic loses of Alexis, Vernon and Arturo this year, Mayweather and his clan can only dream of aspiring to such spectacular heights. Let us not forget that Uncle Roger will probably be sitting in a cell because he attacked a young woman while his Nephew attempts to retain his prior glory. That leaves the undependable Floyd Sr. in charge during a time when father and son are attempting to rectify their stormy past. Sure. Floyd is probably capable of training himself, but his fathers very presence could be a factor should the sailing get rough.
Marquez will enter the ring two weight divisions heavier but with a tenacity that will test the Mayweather mythology should the Mexican's stamina endure. It is simple to negate Juan Manuel in this contest. Time and gravity appear to be against him. But there are other measures of a pugilist that can reveal themselves during dire confrontations. After his latest ventures with Manny and Diaz, it is evident that the desire and ability to overcome huge obstacles are present within the man.
Personally, I believe talent, faith and sometimes magic prevail during some exceptional fistic pairings. I am simply suggesting that this encounter could be one of those events. Peace To All.

Marquez will need a KO to win this fight. He won't get his gift if the fight goes the distance. This is going to be Diaz Malignaggi all over again.
