Cotto fighting again on June 18

I made a thread not to long ago saying how if Cotto wins then I think he will fight on June 18 against Harris because Floyd vs Gatti is on the 11th and they always show a replay the following week. It will also be a great 3 weeks for the 140 pound division with Hatton and Zoo fighting the week before Floyd vs Gatti.

The problem is that Arum has said that Harris demands of 750,000 is way too high and that Chop only fought for 200,000. He said that Harris is not a draw. I say who is Cotto. I read on another site how HBO has been disappointed in his drawing power. Sure he put butts in the seat last week but that was in Puerto Rico. This fight will be in NY and Harris is from Brooklyn. I think he will have just as many people there as Cotto. I think alot of NY people will want to see this fight so for Arum to try to chump Harris out is BS and they are just looking for a excuse not to fight him.

Dont give me that **** that you guys have been saying about Spinks and Judah. You guys act like you forget that Zab had already loss to Spinks. He had no choice. Then you say that he turned down the Hatton fight. Do you know how much money Hatton wouldve made for that? I wouldve turned it down also for the money they were paying. Harris has fought in Germany a few times and the crowd likes him. He deserved some of that money also and he is the champ fighting in a different country.

I hate boxing and it's politics. Give Harris the mone he deserves or just let Cotto fight a chump and everyone will call him a fraud who got exposed. He has no one else he can fight because every good fighter will be fighting at that time. Either give Harris his money and fight him or keep your money, fight a bum, and look like a chump

Nice post. I completely agree that there is too much politics and bull crap. He should definitely fight Harris. It is true Harris is not a big draw (apparently Mayweather has never even seen him box ) but he is the best matchup at the time for Cotto. The only other option I see is him going up a division because of his weight making problems. It will open up more fights. Maybe Cotto could fight Corey Spinks? Not a fight I'd want to see over Cotto - Harris but would be a good fight with a known guy.

Spinks cant make weight either and said he is moving to 154. It is also a littile to dangerous to fight a guy like Spinks for a young boxer

Well Harris has been complaining about noone fighting him, so you telling him to turn down pay, and a fight hes been looking for a long time, that is possilbe to win ( from Corleys brave effort showed flaws), cause he will get a low pay hes use to getting? He should take it even if its in Puerto Rico, boxing isnt ever fair.

He will fight Harris on June and then the winner of Floyd/Gatti...by next year he should be at the 147 division..
If Harris should take the fight no matter how much money they offer him...

And its amazing how some argue his chin is not weak...getting rocked by a welter when ur weighing in at Light Middleweight for a fight and getting stunned like that by a puncher like Corley...is chin wouldnt even make it at 147 against margarito,Kosta etc...

                  Pay him for what?

Zab got 100k for the second Spinks fight. Provided Harris won he would be catapulted into some mega fights.

I agree boxers shouldnt get the shaft on the financial end, but Zab laid down the concrete on how it is done...Unfortunately fighters are going to have to take that route from here on out.

Harris isnt even a name, although I give him a strong chance over anybody at 140 provided he gets his ass in the ring.

100% agreed, politics in boxing sucks to say the least, but it's not going to change anytime soon. And for Harris to say all the time how noone wants to fight him and that everybody is ducking him, and to then turn down a fight with Cotto like this, especially being on as big of a stage as this match, would be career suicide. As far as Cotto not drawing in the fans like DLT has stated, while this may be absolutely true, outside of Perto Rico, the next best place for Cotto to fight would have to be in New York. The amount of Puerto Ricans in NYC that supported and cheered on Tito would most likely rally behind Cotto. And with that said, if Harris is from Brooklyn that should make this a good matchup as far as fanfare is concerned.
