Frank Warren: "Roy Jones and Jeff Lacy are Both Shot"

Looks like Frank is having a tough time no longer being relevant. There were some who were impressed with the recent performance of Roy Jones Jr. Last weekend, Jones broke down, dominated and stopped former super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy. Some people said Jones appeared to be the same Roy Jones who dominated his opponents. Promoter Frank Warren says the people who think Jones looked like the "old Roy" - are delusional. He says Jones, and Jeff Lacy, are both shot fighters who need to retire. [details]Comment

lol@ RJJ is "shot" come on people
Jones isnt shot IMO, the problem is that people remember what the "Prime" Jones used to be able to do and they expect that RJJ, so since he has aged he has had to adjust his style....dont get me wrong RJJ isnt what he used to be but in no way is he SHOT......
this term "shot" is over used on many boxing sites from posters.....
I hear all of this Madness about Miguel Cotto being "shot....wow!! cause he lost to Margarito he is shot?
(these days as soon as a fighter gets KO'ed he is shot according to some people.....)
Back to Roy Jones Jr........I mean damn people Roy doesnt have anything to prove in the sport of boxing, His legacy is set....how about we cherish the final moments of his astonishing career and appreciate all that he has given to the sport....Watching Roy Jones fight is entertaining...he is an ALL TIME GREAT...you people should be thankful your able to witness an all time great fighter still go out and fight and entertain the fans.....

I normally don't defend Frank Warren, but he was the one that wanted the fight between Pavlik and Calzaghe. He didn't even want Calzaghe to fight Roy Jones. I know Pavlik was overrated, but the victory still would've done more for Joe's legacy. The reason that the hardcore Calzaghe fans put their foots in their mouth is because they blame Joe's weak resume all on Frank Warren. But during Joe's last two fights he had the lead way to pick whoever he wanted. And don't try to tell me that a fight with Roy Jones was lucrative. It may have been for Joe's pocket, but the promotion of it lost money big time. It was only behind Pavlik-Hopkins as the lowest grossing PPV of 2008 with a ****ty attendance to go along with it. At least the Pavlik-Hopkins fight had a strong attendance with it. But that was mostly due to Pavlik's fan base. That just goes to show you that Calzaghe fought Jones and Hopkins when it didn't matter as much as it would've been if he fought them in the nineties.Comment
