    Cotto and Southpaws

    ok
dont worry this isnt just another thread about how cotto got saved and what not
so this is the first southpaw ive seen him in against
and corley was pretty much nailen him at will with the right hook
and landing very well with his left
so do u think cottos bad nite was becuz of his chin(forehead) or maybe hes just a fighter who has trouble with Lefties
    and if so
do u think he should forget about ever fighten Zab Judah

heres why i think he should completely aviod a fight with zab at all costs
    1. when he had punches being thrown at him he seems to cover up way too long, and then try to punch. i think he should try to counter instead of waiten his "turn". zab would be able to flurry while cotto covers up, and then move away
    2. when some the fighters such as Santos did a lil stick and move type stuff he also seemed a lil buffudled. i think zab with his superior speed could easily pot shot him
    3. for his last fight against spinks zab wieghed in at 155 the nite of the fight. so cotto wouldnt have his huge wieght advantage here, and as ,i think, we saw against Ndou when cotto doesnt have the big weight advantage he doesnt look nearly as devestating
    4. Zab is a Lefty with power, far more in his left hand but definitly has pop in his right as well

IMO it got nothin to do with southpaws. his chin is weak, the reason why he raises both arms to protect it. in last fight, he got exposed.

well we cant really say anything about his trouble with lefties just yet. He got careless and he paid for it. Maybe if he fights a other southpaw we can see if he has diffucuties with southpaws

Scottie, this is the first time Cotto faces a south paw as a pro. Let's not forget Chop Chop is a former world champ and a guy who's never been ko'd. Cotto never saw that hook coming anyone who's been hit with a strong hook to the ear will tell you it throws you off for a couple seconds. Cotto did show his inexperience as he abandoned his defense and his best asset which is his methodical beatings of opponents. I think this was a learning experience for him as was the N'dou fight. I think he's got a good chance of beating Vivian Harris if he comes in better shape and goes back to his old fighting ways.

yea good point. ppl keep sayin he got no chin cuz he got badly wobbled. plenty of fighters have been badly wobbled. judah against tszyu, mosley v.s. forrest in the 2nd of the first fight, hearns when he fought hagler, vargas 5 times when he fought tito. u get caught with a shot in the temple or ear right u gonna be doin da cripwalk for a lil bit. he showed a good chin because he was hit with so many solid shots and he was alright. it was just that one shot that hurt him cuz he didn't see it coming. u know how the saying goes," the shot you don't see is the shot thats gonna hurt ya."

Anybody who has saw Cotto fight before this fight knows he didn't fight the way he usually does. He uses a much tighter defense and in the fight with Corley he didn't show that much defense. Cotto was more gassed than anything against N'Dou. Everybody's saying how Cotto won't be **** when moves up but I actually think he will be more comfortable at 147 because he wouldn't have to dehydrated himself to make 140 which took him 4 tries at the weigh in.

The reason he should stay away from Zab right now is because he isn't ready for him yet. Unlike most people I said Corley was a good step in the learning process for Cotto back when the fight was first being discussed. I think Cotto is the future but I'm not out of my mind thinking he can beat Tszyu or Mayweather just yet. He can beat Gatti and Harris though in my opinion.

Gatti does not take body punches all that well DLh, and Ward put him down and Cotto goes to the body better that much harder. If Cotto comes in in shape and stays patient he well beat Gatti and Harris. I think he will be in deep water thougth with Floyd and Zoo.

i have to agree that Cotto is having a hardtime fighting southpaws. it his first to fight one, hence, his defense seemed too loose. lessons learned here and if he faces another southpaw or a rematch with chopchop, things will be different, that is if he still makes the weight limit.

Cotto is not yet ready to face Judah, he needs to polish his defense more against lefties...
