    Mayweather Gives Marquez His Props

Floyd Mayweather Jr. knows that on September 19, he won't be facing just any opponent and not a wrestler either but rather a true gladiator.

That's why, from Las Vegas, Mayweather assures us that against Juan Manuel Marquez, we'll see the return of the real "Number One".

"When I accepted the fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, it was because he was the perfect foe," said Mayweather. "Marquez is ideal because he's a great Mexican fighter, and I didn't want to test myself against an easy opponent and without questions, he's one of the best fighters in the world pound for pound."

Mayweather, who trains roughly about 10 minutes away from the Vegas strip, added that he felt Marquez beat Pacquiao in both of their fights which makes him want to prepare himself even harder.

"Because he's one of boxing's best, I'm training to the fullest," continued Mayweather. "And since I train this hard in general for all of my big fights, I'm doing it again because as far as I'm concerned, Juan beat Pacquiao twice and that tells me I have to take this [fight] serious."

September 19 will mark the first time Mayweather has competed since December 2007 when he knocked out Ricky Hatton in defense of his WBC welterweight title.

Although Juan is one of the best pound for pound fighters, this fight is still on paper a mismatch...Floyd is too fast and too big for JMM....Floyd should be fighting fighters at his size and more natural to floyds weight...Whats ironic though is that Pacman is Juan and Cotto is Mayweather but Mayweather is th only one who gets this criticism while many think Manny is going to beat Cotto, and more ironic is that JMM arguably beat Manny twice...so if someone were to have a change at beating legit prime WW it should be Juan yet its the complete opposite. For the record has anyone criticized Cotto for taking this fight?

Isnt Cotto doing the same thing? I mean the only reason Cotto doesnt is because of the opposition Mannhy has beat at these weights....i think JMM would have KO'd David Diaz and Ricky Hatton had he fought them...i dont know about stopping DLH but im sure he would have outpointed him in a lobsided decision.

This is so true. When it comes to Floyd it's a double standard but I bet all my points that if Cotto beats or ko's Pac everyone will be saying that Cotto was too damn big for Pac.

Pac has fought at welterweight once before. JMM had never even fought at junior welterweight let alone welter. That's why Floyd gets the criticism. Pac is favored to beat Cotto. Mayweather is overwhelmingly favored to beat JMM. That's why he is criticized. Fair or not, that's how it is.

He's basically saying that Floyd and Cotto are in the same boat but noone is giving Cotto flack for taking the fight.

i actually never heard either pbf or jmm trash talk each other. they seem to kiss each other's ass.
of course both of them say they will win.

Not fair because Pac fought JMM twice and IMO if Pac could do it so can JMM. What about the point that Floyds best days were at 130?

I mean everyone hates on Floyd for fighting a lightweight...just like Cotto is fighting a lightweight in Manny....Cotto can be seen as Floyd because their both WW and Manny and Juan can both be seen as LW...yet Cotto vs Pacman is not seen as a mismatch, infact the opposite exists...everyone thinks Manny is going to win...i think the reason for that is because Manny has beat Diaz at 135, Hatton at 140 and DLH at 147 and Koed them...In Floyd's defense i think JMM would have done the same, except maybe KO'd DLH, but im sure at that weight he would have outpointed him.
