Add Sweet Pea and Pep and you have the best defense in the history of the sport.

Hopkins doesn't play O off his D as well as PBF.

I like to say that Floyd has the best D since Pernell, but then I think about Pernell being knocked down a few times. By contrast, you can count on your fingers the few times that FMJ has taken a vicious shot.

Of the three, I'd say Toney. He's had the most fights, against the best fighters of the bunch, and been seriously dropped only twice while also maintaining a consistent offense and action level in his fights. A great defensive fighter who can still make for wars is favorable to me because he's not doing it with legs.

I watched Toney eat combos from Vasily Jirov.

Not really...he took shots but he was faced with hundreds of them and made more slide, get rolled though, or fly off the shoulder than you realize. And that was Toney years past his prime in an ATG fight. His defense was more subtle but open enough to make sure fans always saw fights.
