in the intial meeting calzaghe outclassed veit, he found his space to land his looping left hand and at this stage of his career calz still had some power. veit never even saw the second rnd.

veit then rebuilt himself with a string of wins (about 13 in a row or something) over some good competition like brewer and someone else (can't remember who exactly but it was another top 10 'name' SMW). i think he was in the rankings as well and seemed like a worthy mandatory.
