Lol. I like the way everybody keeps bringing up Hearns. Well I got news for you friends-Paul Williams sure **** ain't Thomas Hearns! Hearns didn't have an 82 inch reach, but 78 inch one. Hearns fought at ww in his early career and kept moving up in weight as his body developed. I bet Williams won't even lift too much weights in fear that he might grow too big!

haha I dont see the Hearns/Williams connection either aside from both being tall and thin.

part of Williams problem is he jumps around to fight whatever fight he finds atractive rather than staying at one weight and working his way up to a dominant position. Then his managers blame it on everyone being afraid.

Paul is willing to fight the top fighters from WW to SMW. He even expressed interest in a Hopkins fight. Hopkins is a LHW last I checked.

With hands like his you don't really have to be very skillful to outbox a smaller guy with shorter hands. I think it's cowardish when you're AT LEAST 6'1 and with a 82 inch reach and you are fighting welterweights and LMW's!
you haters complain he's too big for welter. so he moves up to jr middle and knocks out phillips who's never been KOed before. you still say he's too big for jr middle. so he moves up to middleweight and dominates winky. you still say he was too big for winky. now he's trying to get a fight with pavlik. and you're still complainin he's too big? I swear if he fought at heavyweight, you would still be complainin his reach advantage is unfair. Pwill haters will probably always whine unless he faces the klitschkos

Exactly. In every sport, you want to get the biggest advantage you can possibly get without doing anything illegal like steroids or plaster wraps. So if a 6'3" Paul Williams can make 147-154, why not take advantage of these physical gifts. Just because he is that tall and lanky doesn't mean his fights will total mismatches. A 5'9" Carlos Quintana taught Williams a lesson in there first fight. Being 6'3" is a major physical advantage, but it doesn't mean his fights won't fair and competitive.
