Martin Rogan Parts With Trainer John Breen

Martin Rogan has parted company with trainer John Breen, Martin is in training for his rematch with Sam Sexton, who defeated Rogan in May. Rogan is now training at the St John Bosco gym. A disappointed Breen told The Belfast Telegraph that the split has taken him by surprise. [details]

Silly move. This is like Mayweather trying to teach Hatton to box technically - you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. I won't be suprised if Martin loses the rematch now his style was what got him this far - why change it after all not many can claim to have KO'd Skelton.

I really hope Rogan issues Sexton an old-fashioned beatdown.

It does say in the article that Rogan is training at a new gym, and deamed it unnecessary for Breen to make the trip. Still seems like a bad move nevertheless.

just read this on bbc sport. Really dumb move by rogan and i hope he doesnt regret it. Breen (and eamnon magee) are the ideal men for Rogan. He's not gonna learn how to box ffs, hes a 38 year old brawler.
hope this want about money. Probably is though.

Hopefully he'll be motivated and angry enough to get Sexton out of there without magee shouting at him. going by the press conference id say that wont be a problem, but i wouldnt be surpresed if he lost to sexton again now. Breen is a hard man in the gym, he'd push Rogan until he cant be pushed any more, and get the best out of him. Dont know much about the new guy he's hired as a trainer.

We'll see in october how it turns out.
