I don't see why, considering Pavlik pulled out with an injury, and there is a lot of speculation (based apparently on sources from Pavlik's own camp) that Pavlik's real reason for pulling out is that he isn't fit, and also that he has missed doctor's appointments. Plus the dates Pavlik's camp mentioned for a rearranged fight would have clashed with other major promotions, plus Pavlik's camp contacted the press about that instead of contacting Goossen, which is unprofessional in the extreme, and gives one the impression they don't really have a clue what they are doing, and that they are playing to the gallery and are not serious about the fight. Plus Pavlik pulled out of his last fight with an injury as well and then claimed afterwards that he wasn't injured!

Williams is right to stay busy, IMO. He should fight Dzindziruk or Martinez in October. If Pavlik and his camp can get their act together in time, Williams can fight him in January.

It's a pity, because it was a fight I was hugely looking forward to, but I don't see how anyone objective can blame anyone but Pavlik and his camp for this fiasco.

I couldn't possibly cosign more. Excellent points Dave. I even agree with who his next fight should be with. I would love to see either.

The only thing I want to add is that Quintana fans are out of their freakin minds and that tired old argument is soooooooooo lame. Quintana got ktfo in one rd by a focused williams and has done less than nothing since. As soon as Quintana shows that he is a contender again, then maybe you can start your ****** ass argument up again.

Had he used the same strategy the second fight would've been a lot more competitive (not saying he would've won necessarily, but he could've made it past the 1st round =) .
Paul sleptwalked through the first fight. He looked completly different from all his other fights.

I do not bla,e Goosen one bit!! and i really wanted this fight!! Pavlik poor Pavlik, beats jermain taylor, then fights a bunch of no-bodys, gets schooled by Hopkins, beats rubio, pulls out of a sergio mora fight, where i honestly thought Mora could have done something, then signs on for the williams fight, but unprofessionally reschedules - His team is getting more and more arrogant, he disses Showtime wages, but calls himself blue collar? One he losses again he will pray for showtime to help him with dates and also to build him back up!! I got money on anyone he fights next that isin't a journeyman!! Like Mike Tyson once said "inactivity kills fighters" that is why Pwill is so dangerous because he fights more than just about anyone else, then you have to deal with what he brings to the table skill wise. Pavlik needs fights for different looks, he is not the most skilled, but he does come in well conditioned, that plodding shyt is over at the elite level, pwill will give him too many angles and return fire! my only question for pwill is can he take a pavlik punch? because the ghost can still crack when its all said and done!!!

Quintana fought the wrong fight, plain and simple.. PW didnt come in more focused than the first fight...Quintana was saying how he was gonna KO PW..in the second fight, that attitude cost him dearly.....bottom line is Quintana schooled PW..

****ing Kelly Pavlik is DONE as a champion. He's a disgrace to the middleweight division. For ****s sake he let an old man beat him up for 12 rounds.

Kelly, retire, you can't win anything at 168 and you're not moving down to 154.
