Reminds me of Castillo-Corrales, only Concepcion wasnt able to get the win even with the weight advantage
Concepcion's Manager Upset Over Weight Claims

he trained 14 weeks and yet he didn't make the weight. no doubt, concepcion is unprofessional. his manager is a fool.he says that concepcion is moving up to 118lbs.how can he move to 118 when in fact he can't even make that division?Comment

Its fair to say that Donaire could have knock him out if Concepcion came in at 115lbs during the weight in. If you watch Round 1, Donaire hurt Concepcion and it looks as if the fight wasn't going to distance. Donaire was head hunting rather than punching his burrito infested belly in the early rounds and go head hunting at the later rounds. Concepcion is no doubt a tough opponent, but its fair to assume that if he made weight the outcome could have been different. Donaire did what he had to do to beat this unprofessional bum, the guy hurt his hand and had to resort to boxing. There were times when Donaire stood there and traded with him. With that said, a win is a win, specially a much bigger guy.I do agree with him... with all that **** donaire was talking about. " i could have knocked him out if he made 115".. Excuses, Rafa Concepcion is a tough fighter that made Donaire look bad. Donaire alawys has excuses.. "I couldnt feel my legs, cuase they didnt give me time to train"... "I broke my hand"... "He didnt make 115 thats why i couldnt knock him out". Just man up and say that he's a Tough fighter.

Cmon man. The man missed his weight by damn near 5 lbs. I wouldnt even call that missing weight. That's not even trying to make the weight. Seriously....we get reports about fighters failing to make the weight all the time...when's the last time u heard about someone missing weight by that big of a margin?? It's unheard of. And that's not to mention the additional weight he added on top of that on fight night. Donaire was fighting someone possibly as big as a junior lightweight on fight night.I do agree with him... with all that **** donaire was talking about. Just man up and say that he's a Tough fighter.Comment

donaire has always had hand problems, especially his left hand, this was stated even during the darchinyan match. to me donaire made this fight a lot harder than it had to be, despite his injured hand. like the commentators stated he wasnt punching in combinations and also his fundamentals tonight were horrid. donaire does state he feels as if he punches w/ more power w/ his hands low, but a lot of his punches were off balance ESPECIALLY those right hands. im also really shocked that the penalosas didnt tell nonito to go for the body/uppercuts more which has really been working for him lately.
im not taking anything away from concepcion, but lets be real, 4 1/2 lbs away from weight limit when supposedly you were 120 on the 9th and couldnt lose 5 lbs by the 15th? even w/ all these people hating on donaire w/ the excuses fact is these guys are professionals and are contracted to make weight.
i just hope the penalosas go back to the basics w/ donaire after this fight and have him be more of the boxer/puncher which gave him all his success.
also was anyone shocked by how well mario lopez's commentary was?Last edited by Catalan; 08-19-2009, 04:41 AM.Comment
