According to reports in Mexico, former champion Israel Vazquez will finally make his long awaited return to the ring on October 10 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California on October 10. No opponent has been named and Vazquez is expected to debut in the featherweight division. Vazquez has been out of the ring since last March's win over Rafael Marquez. He suffered an injury to his right eye that required months of rehab and several surgeries. [details]

It's good in a way, his body will have had time to heal, he got the surgery he needed....so this layoff may have prolonged his career
but he will still be rusty when he fights again -

Hopefully he has recovered and is ready to return to top form. Vazquez has been through a lot in his career, I would hate to see him come back a shot fighter. It would be great to see him come back in full force and return to glory, but it seems like a long shot.Comment

If Vazquez looks a little bit rusty.... Rafa is gonna be screaming for the 4th match to take place right away. Izzy should have 2 tune up fights like marquez.Comment

I'd like to see a fight between Vasquez and Dunne. That would be a good gauge to see where Izzy is at. That fight would be exciting too while it lasted. And Dunne would bring the Irish crowd. Maybe Dunne should be willing to make that four pound jump.Comment
