The ring rust thing Marquez already knew people might bring up before he signed this fight. But the rib injury that Mayweather suffered would take some shine off the victory if Floyd and his fans used that as an excuse. It will still be an awesome victory though.

The weight difference is a minimal issue. Look at them.

Marquez has always been one size division smaller than Mayweather. Peep their history. He is moving up ONE - not TWO - weight classes for this fight. Don't be fooled by the 144 catchweight, or by them calling this a "welterweight" fight.

Mayweather will be 148-150 on fight night. That is the same as the other JWW's. Disagree?

Ask any pro which would be more damaging to him: moving up a weight class, or two years of inactivity.

FMJ is a guy who relies on timing, accuracy and stamina. The three things that are MOST affected by inactivity.

Nobody should use the rib injury as an excuse. Fighters get hurt, they get better. this is a sport.

mayweather CAN NOT use that rib bull****.

Of course inactivity's going to hurt Floyd but I still think the weight will be an issue, only because Marquez looked so small at LW.

Fortunately, Floyd never stayed out of the gym, gained any weight or stopped working his skills. Every other fighter in the game gains all type of weight and stays out of the gym until the next training begins. Good thing Floyd is the best and does what the best is supposed to do.

That's good to hear, but how do you know he didn't stop working his skills? Floyd said that he was just playing basketball everyday during his retirement, that was the exercise he got according to him.

He would be crazy to take a year and a half off without training at all.

Marquez knocked out a very strong LW in Diaz. And stopped a Casamayor who had never been KO'd.

JMM looked stronger than he ever has. I disagree with your assertion.

Many fighters have jumped up two weight classes.
