    Belts in boxing.

How do you see them and how did you used to see them?
When I was younger I thought if an individual had a belt he was the man so to speak. That they stood top and such.

Now, I don't know how to view them. I mean if Mayweather and Pacuqiao were to fight right now, whether they were fighting for a belt or not wouldn't make a difference. Even in the Pacquiao and Cotto fight, onlookers don't really care if a belt is at steak.

I guess I see them as a stepping stone now. Like if someone is a belt owner I see it as a sign of strength and I will wonder if they push on to greatness but I won't assume they've reached greatness by simply owning a belt. For fighter like Mayweather, Hopkins, Pacquiao, De La Hoya I see it as a list of achievements.

They call them trinkets. They are nothing more than a trophy of ones achievements. People know who the real champ is.
