Really Shows the State of Current Up n' Comers...

It really shows the state of current boxers and up and comers where recently old men and has beens have been decimating all the supposed champions or streaksters.

Calzaghe, Hopkins, Jones etc..all the old timers at over 40 destroying the likes of Lacy, Pavlik, Kessler, etc...I think the current state of boxing at the higher weight classes is the reason why a lot of over the hill bums are considering or attempting come backs, because they know they actually stand a chance.

The supposed 'heirs' and inheritors of the thrones continue to disappoint while the aging megastars of yesteryear continue to dominate and outclass the "lions" of today.

Guys like Chad Dawson are increasingly disappointing (as of his last bout), and at times the 154-170 divisions seem so mediocre that it's no wonder that some sloppy C rated version of Thomas Hearns (P. Williams) is able to have 3 different divisions on lock down.

Self proclaimed saviours like Miranda continue to get exposed while the fan annointed saviours like Kessler continue fighting no names or staying inactive.

Damn shame. Let's hope this coming tourny will sort out the refuse from the valuables.

Jeff Lacy is 32 years old and Kessler is 30, I don't think they're up and comers, more like here and nowers. I get what you're saying but I don't think the outlook is as bleak as you paint it.

I feel you, but honestly I believe it is because todays generation have embraced aggressive styles, and the only defensive technique the use if keeping their hands up. No one atempts to shoulderroll shots, no one tried to be defensive first, no one tries to use angles and outsmart their opponents. They try to out man their oppoents, and against oldschool fighters like Hopkins and Calzaghe with offensive and defensive skills you are bound to get exposed. For example look at Taylor he has the ability to use defense but he chooses not to and ends up losing to very limited fighters like Froch.

This is how it always is. The best all time greats have always beaten up and comers into the later part of their careers. Archie Moore was still knocking fools out into his 40's. That's why they are all time greats.
