Well, he performed very impressively against Calzaghe and came out of the fight with a lot of respect in spite of the loss. That alone means that he is a GREAT fighter.

His biggest claims to fame is andrade who is average at best and losing slighlt respectable to calzache....

What warrents him to beat the liks of froch, taylor who both have mixed with higher class of opponents. Especially taylor whos mingled with winy, lacey, froch, bernard hopkins, pavlik...


So my question is who has kessler mingled with bar losing to joe calzache...??

Well on that note who has Froch beaten really other than Taylor moving up in weight and getting a close decision against Pascal? Andrade is not average he can make a good claim that he should have strap right now at SMW. Kessler is the favorite probably because he has been a fixture at the top of the SMW division much longer than anyone else in the Tourney.

Well Froch didn't dominate....though I agree he won.

kess rocketed through the top10 SMW's until he met calz, the thing is not many of those were US based fighters ao alot of US fans have yet to see him in action. beyer, mundine, andrade were all top 10 SMW's when kess faced them and he won them all comfortably. granted those guys at the time were on no-ones p4p lists but it was the way kess beat them that merited recognition.

another myth about kess is that he doesn't travel when in fact he has fought in germany, australia, wales and im pretty sure hes fought in the US at one point as well.

imo if you were to make a top 10 p4p list based on fundamentals alone kess would have to be ranked somewhere between 3-8.

That is my biggest concern for him. He is going from no fights to fighting some top level guys right off. That ring rust could cost him.

He has to fight Gusmyl Perdomo (WBA mandatory) prior to the tourney. But I agree, allot can happen in two years.
