Mayweather scared of a hatton rematch?

By Liam Santiago: Mayweather seems very eager to put to bed any chance of a rematch with the big punching, major ticket selling, warrior, Ricky Hatton. It annoys me. Especially as a boxing expert. There were question marks about the way the referee conducted himself in that fight and to be fair, Hatton was being pulled out of his rhythm. Yet, Mayweather continues to fight natural lightweights and dismiss any possibility of a rematch.

Of course, I can understand why Mayweather would fear Hatton. Who would not? In the opening rounds of their bout Mayweather really struggled with Hatton’s pressure and at one point he looked ready to go down. Since that defeat, Hatton has lost to Pacquiao and we all know why. He was well past his peak and he had a very un-useful poet in his corner.

Instead of coming out of retirement to fight a natural lightweight in Marquez, a fighter who is two divisions below the ‘pretty boy’, why doesn’t he say, ‘ok, I’ll put any doubts to rest and rematch that legend, that hero from Manchester’. Does he believe that he just got lucky that night. Did his game plan of winding Hatton up work and Hatton was too psyched up to fight? Who knows? What we do know is that beating Marquez proves nothing. A 35 year old can not jump up in weight that much and carry on with his usual style. It won’t happen. Did he not have a desire to go for the top welterweight? Mosley or Cotto? What sort of a con have we got here?

Let’s remember, Mayweather has not fought a natural welterweight fighter since 2006. Hatton was pulled up in weight to make the welterweight limit and that had an effect on the result. If Mayweather does have the guts to face Hatton again, I am sure Hatton will stop him. Adios.

Seriously, I think this **** proves that some individuals will hate him no matter what. I don't really need to explain how ****** the question is. To me Mayweather will always be villified by individuals no matter who he fights.

I remember people criticising him for not fighting Baldomir, then he beats Baldomir and gets criticised for taking the fight. It's like people feel no shame in being so biased.

We all saw what happened Dec. 8 2007 it wasn't even competitive. People will never give Mayweather credit because hasn't been in a competitive fight since Castillo 1
