.....I remember the phillips fight well and Zoo made crucial errors in his attack and he never tried to take a step back and compose himself while he was getting caught. He only knew one way to fight then and it got him in trouble. He takes his time much more now and waits for his opponent to make their mistake and then bam. He didn't fight like that with Phillips and he was far too reckless.

Zoo is a much better fighter now and for those who don't think so cmon...look what he has accomplished since.

PBDS is right he did not pace himself in that fight and he ran into a guy that was in super condition and was prepared to go thru hell too win. Very few fighters would have been able to pull off what Vince did...Vince took a lot of punishment that night and the fight was very close..

KT obviously studied this loss and figured out a way to be much more resourceful...KT's pressure combined with his patience has made him a very difficult fighter too beat. When it all comes down to it whoever thinks that they are going to beat KT will first have to rattle him and get him out of his wierd pressure/patience style...then when KT only has pressure left they will have to go thru hell and that is something guys like ZAB won't be able to deal with.

Roy was a ****head that night and was obviously pulling for the brotha!

Maybe so, but that could be partly down to nature of his opponents since then too.

            lol

Neuraxis, you are ****ing ridiculous. This thread has nothing to do with Roy so don't go there. Anyway you look at it, you can't blame HBO for Roy saying something like that on live tv.

Roy was a ****head that night and was obviously pulling for the brotha!
Were you calling Emmanuel Steward a ****head for rooting and screaming in favor of James Toney blatantly in the 12th round of his fight with Jirov?

You aren't going to get me to defend Steward. They are both horrible announcers.

Well at the very least I can say you hate them equally, which I guess is a small measure better than hating just one of them.

That is exactly what happpened. Tsyzu learned lots from that fight. I would have liked to have seen a rematch.

I can understand both arguements. Tsyzu has improved with experience over the years since the loss to Philips but style wise hasn`t changed much. he still is the same fighter, i think he paces himself a bit better these days and he is able to get a second wind, unlike in the Philips fight when Philips just outhustled him in the closing rounds.
But style wise, Tsyzu is still the same fighter and this is why its a shame Philips and Tsyzu were never rematched while Vince was still cool!

This is true. Tszyu used to look for the early KO in every fight.
Early in his career there was talk around the boxing circles over here that past 5-6 rounds in sparring & fights, Tszyu's power dropped dramatically.
Tszyu lead 5-1 in rounds until the 6th with Phillips & if you watch the fight, he seriously slows after that point.
He also said in interviews that he was basically ignoring Phillips right hand - not even trying to avoid it. Some kind of bravado thing.
