When u hear the name George Foreman
do u think of that beast that destroyed Frazier and Norton

or do u think of some commentator that says ****** stuff and that is a chef?

It is hard to believe that the old jolly giant was once a vicious street thug as a kid who used to knock grown men out on street corners and had the Heavyweight division in fear on his first reign as champion. Even when you watch the documentary When We Were Kings about Foreman's fight with Ali it is hard to see Foreman with a mean and surly attitude. He certainly changed for the better.

i think of him doing crazy **** for his comeback, ultimately his greatest feat, beating moorer at age 45

and his son talking about it, 'he was 300 pounds, then the pounds just started comin off him...hed get up at 5am and run, and train all day long come home around 5 pm'

his unorthodox routine, wood chopping, walking a car around wearing a harness, eating 13 eggs for breakfast, preaching boxer "I >will< hit you and then pray for you"

the 2 funniest memories I have of George are #1 when Teddy Atlas was bugging him at a press conference and George said 'leave me alone' or something..and Atlas pushed him from the side, here's a pic..

george goes 'go get me a sandwich and sit down' and moorer holds back atlas like he's a threat to george or something..george would punk atlas with a single jab,it was probably pre planned but then again, knowing atlas, he doesnt put on an act for anyone.

and #2, his silly ass consumer 'love me' commercials, but i thought they were pretty cool, nonetheless. ;-)

I think of a top 10 great who lost to Ali, beat Frazier, came back as an old fighter to win the title and a man who can make a mean, lean burger.

When ever I hear his name, I remember one of the greatest heavy. But at the same time, I can't help but remember the damn grill. And I actually wanted one of those. Heck, I think I still do.
