    Pinoy Power 2 Breaking News

PP2 Breaking News: Concepcion is struggling to make weight
August 14, 2:11 PMIndianapolis Fight Sports ExaminerDennis "dSource" Guillermo

Word in from Las Vegas is that Rafael Concepcion, Nonito Donaire's opponent for "PINOY POWER 2" tomorrow August 15, 2009 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas and to be shown live on Pay-Per-View is at 119 pounds as of 11am PT, 4 pounds above the weight limit of 115. Concepcion is being monitored for dehydration as he has been trying to shed the excess weight and my sources have said he could not lose even another ounce more.

The OFFICIAL WEIGH-IN is today Friday, at
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas at noon, so Concepcion still has about an hour to try and lose the excess weight.

If Concepcion does not make weight, he will not be able to fight for the WBA superflyweight interim title. I contacted Team Donaire with this development and they said they will not pull out of the fight even if they can in the event that Concepcion does not make the weight. The weigh-ins are open to the public.

    Stay tuned!

Here's the latest video blog from Team Donaire as well courtesy of www.FilipinoFlash.com.

It's as if Concepcion didn't even try. Maybe he felt he was going to lose anyway. It thought Donaire was only fighting this guy to get the belt. What's the point now? Donaire should just beat him up.

The belt will still be on the line for Donaire if he can make the weight. Concepcion will still get smashed.

No Glory in Donaire Beating Concepcion!

Where's the glory then in Nonito Donaire beating an unknown midget worse, a dehydrated fighter? It was expected of him to knock Rafael Concepcion in 2 rounds so now that Concepcion is being monitored for dehydration, what outcome should we expect now? A 1st round KO or a default?

Not to mention, the event title alone(Pinoy Power II) suggests that this fight is intended to showcase the power of pinoy boxers. In short, this fight is leaning to a win by Filipino boxers - needless to say, expect referees to be bias towards Nonito Donaire et al.

My opinion is, this event is a farce thus watching it is an exercise in futility. Tsk, tsk, tsk... what a bad time to be a Filipino!

I'm not even intrested in this fight anyway.
                It's a mismatch.

Concepcion vs Luevano is the real fight.
