    Leonard-Duran II

Should it be held against Ray Leonard that he knew that Roberto Duran would be out of shape for the second fight, therefore knowing he would have Roberto's number, and beat him?

No I wouldn't hold it against him! I like both Duran and Leonard but if one fighter doesn't come in shape then that's his problem not his opponents IMO.

Unbelievable! If one fighter signs to face another.....it is their responsibility to make the weight and be in shape! Too much is made of Duran's weight gain post fight 1. Some fighters lose a ridiculous amount of weight when training for fights and still come in strong and fit, think peak Ricky Hatton, seemed to shed half his body weight! Its not incredibly healthy, but it works for some fighters.

It was a clever decision by Leonard, but its not like the fight was signed with only four or five weeks to train! The fight was still a big gamble. Also remember, its not like the first fight was a runaway win for Duran...........it was bleeding close.

Its not like Benitez and Laing didn't beat Duran shortly after Leonard did in fight two either, no weight excuses there. Duran simply didn't like slippery movers and Leonard was just that in fight two.

              lmao

The greatest LW of all time, had over 70 fights, and eats too much steak and orange juice before the biggest fight of his life???

I dont suppose Leonards power punches, elusiveness and humiliating showmanship had anything to do with Duran quitting?

Duran wasn't himself. his stomach hurt so bad. Duran had SRL's number. get over it.

the second fight wasa fluke and shouldn't count

Leonard fought a totally different fight. Thats the difference.

Tell me how Duran fought differently compared to the first fight?

And show me where Duran gestured to his stomach hurting during the rematch?

Also, why did Duran say he had now retired during the post fight interview? Sour g****s big time.

Proof? I don't care whether Duran said he was ill that not proof that an excuse.

Durans one of my favourite fighters but he lost that fight fair and square and it was down to Leonard, Duran was actually doing ok in the 2nd fight as well but I think he just got frustrated.
