Dude, its really quite simple. Back in the days "the best" actually fought "the best". Ali fought em all, when there was only one belt! The number one contender had his shot. When your boy can put aside "money" and fight cause the dude can fight, and never mind how much money he puts in you pocket....Floyd Mayweather will undoubtably be One-of-the Greatest......EVER!!!! Such a gifted athlete, but Mayweather has not shown warrior ethos. Ability, yes. A little too much sweet science gets you sick like eating too much cake. All the greatest fighters know what it is like to lose to a greater fighter.

yep. Floyd could possibly do it, too

forget about mosley though. He's shot, even though he was able to beat a plaster-free Margarito

throw mosley in there, but he would still not be #1 of all time, just of this generation

              superfetherweight-corrales
              leightweight-castillo

              superwelterweight-de la hoya

his timing has been off for these fights HE SHOULD HAVE should have had.

super lightweight-tszyu before hatton be him for the ring belt
welterweight-judah before baldo got to him.

and jermain for the middleweight title( if spinks could have beaten him...... come on)

bottom line is, he would have gotten credit if he beat them for those titles.
you don't get to be superlightweight champion kostya, via default for beating ricky when it's at welter.
it should have been vs kostya.

same with the judah situation with baldo.

the jermain fight would have been the icing on the cake.

Pretty hard for Mayweather to match that.

To get closer after JMM, Pac, Cotto he could face Mosley and Williams and that would pretty much solidify a top 5 position
That's pretty much the rub isn't it? Floyd could clean out Welterweight, drop down and do the same at Lightweight, jump up and destroy the Middleweights, and he STILL wouldn't have beat a single fighter that would belong in the top-10 of the fighters Robinson faced.

Consider that everyone I listed apart from Bell and Fusari all won betls at a time when there was only ONE belt in each division, meaning you know he fought the very best fighters in each and every division.

How many of these names on Mayweathers resume would have a belt if there was only 1 belt per division including fantasy fights)? Gatti wouldn't have, Judah wouldn't have, Cotto perhaps (he lost to Margarito and Mosley beat Margarito)

I was talking about realistic acomplishments to make it to P4P theres a possiblilty Mayweather may be able to defeat Williams/Pavlik winner but I don't see a chance in hell of him beating the winner of the super 6.
