    Most Overrated Fights

Evander Holyfield-Mike Tyson 1: Somehow, this good fight, great event, won 1996 Fight of the Year by The Ring over much more exciting action fights like Marco Antonio-Barrera-Kennedy McKinney, Arturo Gatti-Wilson Rodriguez, Rid**** Bowe-Andrew Golota 2, Tim Littles-Frankie Liles 2, and Kevin Kelley-Derrick Gainer 1. The action was pretty good but not great, with all the holding. Barrera-McKinney was light years better.

Oscar De La Hoya-Ike Quartey: 2 very exciting rounds, 10 chessmatch rounds with ocassional action. Of course years later people remember it as some kind of great fight, remembering rounds 6 and 12 and not rounds 1 through 5, and 7 through 11.

    While I agree with de la Hoya-Quartey I think Tyson-Holyfield I is a superb fight.Maybe not FOTY in 96,that was Gatti-Rodriguez IMO.

To me Cotto vs Margarito is an overrated fight.

I feel the same way about Hagler-Hearns, but I also have to keep in mind that I saw it taped, after I knew who won, and so that kind of takes some of the excitement out. I did watch other great fighters years after the fact, that I think are easily superior to Hagler-Hearns, but I still try to keep the live factor in mind, especially for a megafight like that. My old co-worker told me about how great it was watching it closed-circuit when it happened, everyone standing up throughout the 1st round and all.

            Maybe Froch v Taylor.

Only the last rounds where Froch was pulling through were exciting.

Nobody rates that as a great fgiht so it can't be overrated.

i thought tito/oscar was a dud and way overhyped for what transpired.
