The boxing committee needs to worry about fixing mens boxing first and foremost since it's all jacked up now.

WELL HOLY **** AND OH MY FUCKING GOD, THE WOMEN ARE TAKING OVER. RUN FOR THE HILLS AND STUFF.

I'll refrain from posting a rolly-eyes. Your post isn't worth the energy it'd take to type the code.
I'll take it argumentation founded on facts isn't on of your strong points.
My point remains: Women aren't biologicaly adapted to fighting and therfore run greater risks. All estimations which refuse to take in calculation basic biological facts are bound to turn out bad. Turning a blind eye on gender differences won't make them go away.

Maybe I shouldn't have been so quick to agree with Ivan's post and read it a little more carefully. I think the part about the degradation of civilization is a bit over the top.

Still, women have not been warriors throughout human evolution and I'd agree that they're not built for this kind of thing. And if one wants to point out the exceptions, I'd say it doesn't matter since there is very little interest in women's combat sports. These women are going to be putting their lives on the line and will get none of the glory. This makes women's boxing and MMA a waste of time and effort, as well as an unnecessary risk to the participants.

I hope this doesn't cut into the live men boxing matches, I try to watch as much as I can. Hopefully the woman boxing is shown on the lifestyle channel or something.

Boxing was previously the only summer sport on the Olympic docket without a female counterpart.

“We are thrilled that the IOC Executive Committee has voted to add women’s boxing events to the 2012 Olympic Program. The ‘yes’ vote means that female boxers will now be able to share in the dream of standing on the world’s most prestigious sporting podium,” said USA Boxing Women’s Task Force Chair and AIBA Women’s Commission member Christy Halbert. “It’s a historic event, marking the first time that all of the summer Olympic sports will have female participants. The Olympic Games, will, from now on, truly showcase the world’s best talent.” [details]
Not big on woman's Boxing myself, but its still good recognition for Boxing, it should be in the Olympics they should have there chance.

Olympic Games 2008, men: 12 weightdivisions, women: 0 weightdivisions.
Olympic Games 2012, men: 10 weightdivisions, women: 3 weightdivisions.
                  Olympic Games 2016.....

Men's boxing, which is real boxing will suffer from this in the long run.
Also more women getting hurt in the ring ain't good publicity for boxing.

I find it incredibly difficult to watch women participate in sports that were traditionally played by men. I guess I find it boring. Men have the right physical tools to box: speed, power, athleticism.

Watching a woman trying to emulate some degree of boxing ability, well, I call that sacrilege. Call me sexist, but women should play their own sports where their physical shortcomings are not so obviously exposed.

There ARE major biological differences between males and females that limit what they can and cannot do. The political correctness and gender equality stuff in sport has to stop.
