BJ Flores Stuck On The Slow Road To Notoriety

By Jake Donovan - The world wasn’t quite at his fingertips, but success was at least finally within reach for undefeated cruiserweight contender BJ Flores.

An effective, if not aesthetically pleasing, performance over Darnell Wilson last February had the former amateur standout one fight away from challenging for an alphabet title. [details]

Flores stuck himself on the slow road, he's turned down more opportunities than I can count. If he actually had a notable name he'd be getting ****ted on a lot more, Mayweather level.

His track record for turning down fights is pitiful for a ranked prizefighter. He's more like a very cautious/protective manager than a fighter.

That's what happens when you are boring and fight scrubs.

If he was smart he would have taken those peanuts to fight Adamek. If he won it'd set him up for huge fights at cruiserweight. Instead he's chasing cans for peanuts on the undercard of PPVs that nobody buys.

Dononvan you forgot about him turning down Ola Afolabi (Shobox) and Matt Godfrey (ESPN2) before turning down Adamek, Maccarinelli, and Braithwaite.

He thinks this **** is a joke so I rather see an article on a journeyman warrior like Rogers Mtagwa than this cat. He doesn't deserve it.

The author has always liked BJ Flores and put a positive spin on his uninspiring performances both in and out of the ring.

I have? Thanks for the info.

I don't get how this is a positive spin. I called him uninspiring, underachieving and openly question the decisions he's made both as an amateur and pro. If that's a positive spin and expressing my fandom...

Flores fighting Mendoza is a MAJOR dissapoinment.
