I wouldn't say that they are poor at boxing, more like there is a much lesser percentage of Caucasians participating in boxing these days.

When Mr. and Mrs. Smith's little boy Johnnie is growing up, they are not having aspirations of him becoming a boxer.

I think it all comes to percentages. That is also why you see a higher percentage of Caucasian American men in baseball than you do African American males. You don't see the brothas' playing baseball that much. Well, not any more at least. This is also the reason the heavyweight division is in it's current state. The Heavyweight boxer that you would have seen in the 1960s and 1970s is now playing middle linebacker somewhere in the NFL.

I dont want be harsh but lets look at facts here.

Lets take britain...yes we have less ethnic **********, but we still have a high enough percentage. plus there are more white people in america than britian.


White people are holding there own in boxing but very few white americans. You have pavlik but he got schooled by hopkins. Other than that im struggling. In britian alone recently we had calzache, froch, hatton, on the horizon we have tyson fjury, nathon clerverly, jamie morre, kevin mitchell...

Why oh why are there very few white boxers from america, ireland is a tiny place of 3/4million people and they had barry maguigan, and steve collins...

Boxing in the US has always been an outlet for those in poor urban centers which today is predominantly composed of Blacks and Latinos. Back in the day when the Italians, Irish, and ***s were in a similar situation they thrived in boxing as well.

We have a winner.

This is also why ***s Dominated Basketball for a long time. Or why so many old school boxers have Italian Irish or Polish last names.

Poorer people are more likely to look for an escape through sports. Why take the risks of boxing if I can make money as a banker? Much less risk in Banking than Pro Boxing.
