Leonard KO'd Hearns. 8 yeeeaaars later he got a draw but neither fighter were in their primes.

He lost a decision in a close fight to Duran, only to later no mas his ass.

He got the decision against hagler and rightfully so.

The only real undeserving one was the draw against hearns, which should have been an L.

    I don't think it's really comparable imo.

The main difference between these two golden boys is that Leonard had his big wins that weren't controversial decisions against great fighters before he became a part-time fighter, and started getting controversial decisions in his favor.

Leonard stopped Benitez in a fight he was clearly winning, made Duran quit, and stopped Hearns. Benitez and Hearns were undefeated and Duran was 72-1.

DLH doesn't have non-controversial wins of this caliber. His best non-controversial wins are over the likes of Vargas and Ruelas.

      Huge difference.

He should have lost to Whitaker and Quartey also. I thought he should have won Mosley 2 but still glad he lost, and he deserved to lose the Trinidad fight because he fought like a coward.

Leonard was a class above DLH and always will be. I thought Hagler got screwed in their fight but the Hearns fight isn't relevant IMO since both were way past prime.

In there primes Leonard stopped him.

I agree that SRL is better at almost every aspect of the game and even if DLH had won those decisions Leonards resume still ****s on Oscars. I dont believe any WW in history tho makes easy work of a prime DLH. The only chance Leonard has at stopping DLH is to get him tired and TKO him late, because while you can argue DLH isnt an ATG his chin most definitely is.

Oscar was a very, very good fighter. He had it all, speed, timing big left hook, good defence, good chin....but he never had the x factor that makes a truly great fighter. The special quality that sets you apart from all the good fighters. The thing that made Leonard come from behind to stop Hearns, the thing that made a 38 year old Duran beat Barkley, the thing that made Ali outwit foreman. Oscar didnt have it. He ran from Trinidad and gave the fight away (it should still have been a win for oscar but he put it in jeopardy with that running), he faded in many big fights....Very, very good fighter, but lacking the one special quality that makes a true great.

If you ask me Oscar was never a truly hungry fighter in the pros, maybe early in his career he was sort of hungry, but the guy got paid 50K for his first pro fight....he knew all he had to do was play his cards right and he would strike it rich in this sport, with all the backing he had. He never had to grit his teeth and grind his way up from the bottom, guys like duran and pacquiao were streetkids but became champions.

I think the only time Oscar was ever truly hungry was at barcelona. He promised his mum (deceased shortly before the games) that he would win gold. And he looked brilliant at those games, but after that the fire dulled a little.

I got no prob wit cats who say DLH is an ATG. He still accomplished a lot. But he did squander some big fights. He also got robbed on a couple of em too. But no way he's equal to SRL. No, just no.
