Though, if we're talking in other terms, Ottke's biggest wins were against Calzaghe's second tier champions that he put a whooping on. Ottke struggled mightily with guys like Brewer, most thinking he lost those fights, while Calzaghe knocked him out and others that Ottke struggled with with relative ease.

Still, it was a fight that really should have been made. Two guys in the same division, both undefeated, both from Europe, both fighting at the same time and both having very long title reigns. They also both had quite a few common opponents. But, unlike Calzaghe, Ottke's reign is littered with shocking decisions and looked upon with a lot of sourness by most outside of Germany.
well sven ottke fought them all first. calzaghe picked on ottke leftovers. not to mention ottke actually fought glen johnson while calzaghe ducked him twice.

calzaghe didn't knock out brewer he got into a war with him and it wasn't easy. also ottke didn't get floored by mitchell and have to get an early stoppage to win. he just stole it the good ol fashioned way. and most people think reid beat them both.

i see no real difference between the two. ottke had shocking decisions and calzaghe had shockingly bad stoppages and a couple bad decisions. they both cheated in their own way.

There'll always be a multi-channel division when it comes to the Zagster, like it or not.

Some (like myself) will look back on his style and find it entertaining, but will rue the fact that he chose not to go over to the States and make himself available after the Eubank fight. Others will look back on his style and find it ridiculous, but will appreciate his career otherwise. Another crowd will **** on his good wins (Lacy, Kessler), brand his style as laughable, and hate him no matter what. It goes on and on.

He will never be revered like the Alis and whatnot, who had a pleasing style and fought everyone.
