Boxers rolemodels

a thread to post some of the great fighters rolemodels in boxing. who they looked up to and possibly emulated.

some examples:

hopkins looked up to robinson and hagler, emulated hagler which can be seen in the way he managed to beat taller oponents with ease which he credits to studying hagler-hearns.

hearns and leonard idolized and emulated muhammad ali
muhammad ali idolized and emulated ray robinson
ray robinson idolized joe louis

zab judah idolized pernell whitaker and tyson. tried to emulate whitakers defence and tysons attitude to fighting

gerald mcclellan & james toney idolized tommy hearns. gerald ofcourse trained and sparred with hearns at the kronk. and being a detroit fighter toney was approached by hearns early in his career and given advice.

miranda idolizes tyson

hasim rahman idolizes ali and holmes. says someone told him holmes sent his thanks after rahman beat up berbick (him and homes didnt exactly like eachother like u might remember).

calzaghe - hagler and hearns but especially ray leonard
cintron - JCC, ray leonard, duran.
adamek - DLH, RJJ and holyfield
DLH - arguello, ray leonard and JCC

Hatton loved Roberto Duran, there's a video on youtube somewhere of a young hatton meeting Duran, its pretty funny actually seeing Hatton star struck.
