Floyd could wipe out all the blown up lightweights and featherweights, for the next ten years.
Even at the lower weights a lot of the guys he was facing were just the same size as him.

Guys, he's an ATG already, he beat legendary fighters like Zab Judah, Ricky Hatton, Carlos Baldomir, and Oscar De La Hoya.

he has nothing left to prove .

When he beat those guys they were considered elite (except maybe oscar)

Sorry. I strongly dis-agree with that comment. When your a favorite to win (all those fights he was the favorite) you need to prove more by facing fighters that present a "challenge" to you....top 5 of our generation yes...ATG status...he has a couple of more fights to validate that claim. Even if he losses to say Mosley, Cotto or Pac.....but comes back to avenege those losses...THEN he will have attained ATG status.

If he has nothing left to prove...why did he come back? Besides the obvious...
And even then...why come back and fight the LW champ? That does nothing but fuel people negative opinions of him....paid....yes he will be...but if he is looking to have some kind of negotiating power with a win over Marquez...it won't happen.

So when you look at Floyd's resume....wins over Zab, Baldomir, Hatton and DLH would solidify his ATG status? Elite...yes 1 out of the 4 (Zab) at the time Floyd fought them...if those are his best wins on his resume...he would need to add 1 or 2 in their "prime" WWs to that list.

I bring up the Gatti and Mitchell fights because that was a "hungrier" Mayweather. He did what everyone expected him to do...dominate...and do so in devastating fashion. DLH and Hatton were average and great. But you have to remember...HE was the favorite to win both those fights. You mean to tell me that you weren't a little disgusted by the DLH fight after all the hype? He was able to pot shot DLH all day..and in my mind, was more than capable of "turning it up" and possibly getting a stoppage. Hatton...well...he toyed with Hatton for 8 rounds and then finished him after that beautiful check hook. But Hatton was NEVER a real threat to Floyd.

About Floyd always being about the money....I remember in a magazine in I think it was 2000 or 2001...(either Source, XXL or Maxim) they had an article on Floyd and even back then he was already flashin the bling, the mink fur coat (in Vegas hahaha) the Lambos and Ferraris. BUT...it didn't affect his performances in the ring and the ability to take on all challengers....After Gatti...only Floyd knows what switch was turned on in his head to transform into "Money"....
Well with Floyd's amazing skills, he's pretty much always going to be the favorite.

He was a slight favorite against G. Hernandez, and Corrales, as well, and the rest of the fights he's been a solid favorite.

The DLH fight was a let-down, and Floyd was unimpressive. I wanted to see the Hatton fight for awhile though, and actually at the time preferred that over a Mosley fight. PBF had just beaten a mid 30s fighter who while still formidable had seen better days, and I didn't care to see that again. I preferred a Cotto fight over any of them, but I didn't expect PBF and Arum to work together at the time (I do in the future for a Pac fight though).

Mayweather dominating Gatti and Mitchell had more to do with styles and ability than hunger IMO. Mitchell was shopworn and Gatti was just so damn easy to hit, and levels below Mayweather. Whether he's Pretty Boy or Money, the fights would look the same. Other guys afterwards, DLH and Baldomir had that extra size to contend with, Judah did his usual fast start and then got his ass kicked afterwards (I still think he was about to get stopped before he went Golota/Pedroza on Mayweather), and Floyd slowly broke Hatton down.

Mayweather was usually outweighed unofficially in the ring, he's never been a big weight-cutter.

Floyd's fought his share of bigger guys, which is why I'm less criticial that the less two opponents he's fought have moved up in weight, but after JMM it better be either a real WW or Manny Pacquiao.

He's not exactly Rocky Graziano, he's not a guy that consistenly picks on smaller guys.
