    Is HBO killing boxing?

With high priced PPVs and very selective choosing of fights HBO has boxing in a vice grip. I think promoters should lobby USAnetwork and bring back tuesday night fights forcing the suits at HBO to start showing more fighters and less PPVs.

I think USA is owned by the same company that owns HBO(Disney/ABC).

HBO has had 1 PPV this year and will end u having 3. The PPV is killing Boxing isn't a strong point this year. Tuesday night fights would be great to come back that's for sure.

boxing just doesn't draw ratings anymore.

that's why there's ppv. to get the top stars paid.

it'd be nice to get boxing back on network tv but it's not cost efficient for tv networks.

It has to do with the lack of real star quality in the sport. Even when Oscar was making his name, he was already starting to become a big deal let alone he's an Olympic Gold medalist.

Considering the economy as well, they'll be more reluctant to dish out money to put on what we would see as a dope fight, but to them it doesn't equal into good TV ratings.

I love HBO, its awesome, very well presented and I perfer the commentary.

The Championship theme was awesome, but it was replaced by some lame version for some reason.

Just not enough great fighters out there to showcase on regular networks and b.a.d...the ones that are quickly get thrown into PPV status...

Well not right away because boxings been out of the mainstream limelight. Put it on regular t.v and actually build stars you could start making money. People would start watching move and companies would pay more for 30 second commercials. Fighters need to make less and it needs to happen if we ever want the sport to become what it used to be, more exposure.
