I watched this fight live and i couldn`t believe what i was seeing. Reid started easily outboxing and then really hitting Ottke hard and hurting him. The ref was on Reid`s from the get go. The point deduction that occured in the 6th round, i don`t remember Reid doing anything worng. Then Reid got angry for the point off and smacked Ottke really hard and floored him. The ref then ruled it a slip and Ottke spend the rest of the fight running for his life. I think he might have laid credit to winning two of the rounds but when the verdeict came in predictably Ottke was awarded the fight by massive margins! And people blame Roy Jones for not going to Germany early in his light heavyweight days?

I watched that fight and Ottke was a whiney scumbag. reid got deducted for hitting the guy! The ref was an absolute joke and a disgrace to boxing. A lot of boxing from Germany is shown on Eurosport and the hometown guy always gets the breaks, blatantly so. Speaking of useless fighters, check out Rudiger May, he's German and moves about as smoothly as Pinochio.

        Lol

There is always a hometown favoritism it seems with German fighters. Henry Maske got it, Ottke got it and to an extent Michalszewscki seemed to get it. If you are fighting a champ in Germany you had better damn well knock him out or down several times to make sure your gonna win,

Maybe the ref didnt realise it was a boxing match, the guy was warning Reid for punching. it got to the stage where Reid was scared to throw shots!!

Reid still easily won and was robbed. i've never seen anything like it.

I have to throw in my two penny's worth and say that this was one of those bouts where it wasn't just "a bit fixed"... it was hilariously, outrageously fixed. It was jaw-droppingly "My God I can't believe what I'm seeing" fixed.

Reid showed good humour after the fight and joked that he wouldn't be able to get a decision against Ottke even his "mum and two best mates" were the judges.

                The highlights for me were:

As someone mentioned, Reid hit Ottke flush in the face - and got told off by the referee. Read that again three or four times to let it sink in. He got a verbal caution - FOR HITTING HIS OPPONENT. No, really.

I see to remember there was a point where Reid hit Ottke in the head... and Ottke grabbed his crotch and motioned towards the ref, causing a caution for low blows.

It went beyond the point of ridiculousness so as to make it hysterical.

This is a news paper report i lifted.

                  Reid hopes for rematch
                  Stuart Brennan

ROBIN Reid will discover on January 22 whether he has been handed a rematch against IBF and WBA champion Sven Ottke.

The star of the Collyhurst and Moston gym was denied victory over the unbeaten German by some preposterous refereeing when the two men met in Nuremberg last month.

Reid was denied a legitimate knockdown, German referee Roger Tillermann declaring it to be a slip, and was penalised a point for use of the head when Ottke was clearly just as guilty.

Those two decisions cost Reid a points verdict in a close contest which was awarded to Ottke 115-113, 117-112, 115-113.

                  Appeal

Reid's promoter Jess Harding was so incensed by the decision - the latest in a series of dubious Ottke wins on his home turf - that he spent nearly £6,000 to have the fight reviewed by five IBF appeal stewards.

They will let Reid know of their findings on January 22.

The super-middleweight ace, who lives in Horwich, was also warned by Tillermann just for throwing a punch as the fight degenerated into farce.

Ottke is unbeaten in 20 defences of his IBF title, largely thanks to some odd judging decisions - his last defence before Reid was against Denmark's European champion Mads Larsen, who came away claiming that he had been robbed.

Harding said: "We want justice and an immediate rematch and, hopefully, that is what the IBF will decide is best on January 22.

"It was awful. Tillermann stopped Robin from boxing, Robbie was terrified to throw punches in case he was disqualified.

"We've gone through the tape of the fight minute by minute and have brought all the referee's mistakes to the IBF's attention.

"All we want is a rematch and a fair crack of the whip.

"I am flying out to see the IBF in Venezuela and hopefully we will get the right result."

Reid was livid after the fight, saying "At least **** Turpin wore a mask when he used to rob people."
